Once the pollen lands on the stigma of the flower, a pollen tube forms and the pollen travels down into the flower.

Click "Zoom" to learn what happens next. The pollen travels down into the flower, where ovules are located. The ovules contains more nuclei, which also contain genetic information. One nucleus of the pollen combines with one nucleus in the ovule. This is how the embryo of a seed is formed. It contains equal amounts of genetic information from both flowers. Zoom in again to learn more. The other nucleus from the pollen combines with another nucleus in the ovule and provides instructions for making the part of the seed that contains food for the embryo.
